SOLAPACKTM : Evacuated Tubular Solar Collector
SOLARPACKTM is an evacuated tubular solar collector that was
first successfully commercialized in Korea by joint development
between the Korean Institute of Energy Research and APACK
as one of the research & develop
ment projects sponsored by
the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy in Korea.
APACK succeeded in developing the products employing technologies available only
in Korea to secure all the source technologies required for production, provides
engineering for any adaptive areas, and guarantees thorough after-sales services.
APACK applies vacuum and heat pipe technology to the products to reduce heat loss
(e.g. conduction and convection) from the Solar absorber plate by 95%, and
the footprint by some 30%. These high efficiency products are available for industrial
processes, as well as the Hot water supply, heating and air-conditioning in large buildings.
Schematic diagram of the evacuated tubular solar collector of core technologies
1. Glass/copper tube joining
technology
- Core technology for maintaining
a high vacuum level
- First to be developed in Korea
(third in the world)
2. Manifold heat-exchange
technology
- Employing pre-cast fins for
enlarging heat conductivity area
- Dry connection heat-exchange
mode for simple installation and
maintenance
3. Heat pipe technologies
- Employing heat pipes with excellent heat response and thermal conveyance
- Evaporation allowed without external power. Repeating condensation processes
4. Absorber plate welding technology
- Special titanium coating with excellent absorption rate and lower emission
- Ultrasonic welding of heat pipes and Absorber plate
